For students preparing for studying abroad, whether applying for the direction of studying in Hong Kong, China or pursuing overseas studies, all English teaching will be the language environment of university life. Many international students and parents have also realized the crucial role that language ability plays in mastering the pace of learning in today's international society. At the same time, the UK Hong Kong direction often sets up interview barriers during undergraduate enrollment, which further reflects the importance that higher education institutions place on English proficiency. In response to the essential adaptability and critical thinking skills required for G5 interviews, the Service Center has specially organized an English corner style G5 interview tea party to assist international students in adapting to the interactive scene and pace of the interview.
The reason why interviews attract the attention of many international students and parents is partly because under considerable pressure, engaging in non-native language communication and testing does require periodic practice and adaptation. From a fundamental perspective, some students mistakenly regard language learning as a responsibility or ultimate goal. I believe many parents of students studying abroad also deeply understand that it is precisely because of this mechanical view of learning as an obligation, even a task, that enthusiasm and motivation are naturally difficult to be reflected in the process. In fact, language learning has never been the ultimate goal, but a means and tool to achieve it. Taking the entrance examination of world-renowned universities as an example, the language barrier itself is a threshold before entering the dream school. When academic and language abilities are met, some universities still set up individual or group assessment processes, which are also a review and screening before admission. For applying to prestigious universities, language proficiency is a tool, and in today's exploration and practical interaction in various academic and non academic fields, language is an essential and effective way to acquire new knowledge, new ideas, and new interpersonal relationships.
Combining the internally integrated G5 interview question bank and high-frequency topics involved in language tests such as IELTS, the G5 interview tea party every Saturday afternoon will be conducted in the form of group discussions, simulating key scenarios that showcase organizational skills in group meetings. With a relatively relaxed English corner interactive mode, it will help international students immerse themselves in the atmosphere of discussing and expressing English topics, and help overcome the pressure and tension they feel during real interviews. Of course, authentic British pronunciation is also an important label in the G5 tea party. Under the guidance of the foreign speaker Wan Mark, the G5 interview tea party will focus on a specific interview topic as the core of interactive discussions every week. This will further enhance the academic literacy and comprehensive expression ability that international students need to test in the interview. Providing a relatively relaxed and interesting environment for international students to experience English as an environment and condition for communication and exploration is also one of the reasons why the Student Affairs Office has opened the G5 interview tea party.
The activity time is tentatively scheduled for every Saturday afternoon from 16:00 to 17:00. The registration for the G5 interview tea party has officially opened. We welcome all international students who love English communication, are willing to learn and improve their interview abilities to contact and confirm with Mr. Pan from the Student Affairs Office.
